Recognition of Prior Learning
This qualification reflects the role of workers participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of leisure, health activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas. Workers may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres, completing specialised tasks and functions in relation to leisure and health. While workers are responsible for their own outputs, work is carried out under direct or indirect supervision within defined organisation guidelines.
Entry Requirements
There are no academic requirements or pre-requisites for this qualification, however, the student must:
- Be 15 years of age
- Have sound communication skills
- Undertake and complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment
- Successful completion of CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent)
- Must have a valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) and Police check.
- Influenza vaccination before they attend work placement
- Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination certificate required (Unless medical exemption is provided )
You will be required to complete an initial assessment of your language, literacy and numeracy skills to see if you meet the ACSF level 4 requirements. If you do not meet these requirements, you may be required to complete additional foundation skills training with an approved provider prior to commencing this qualification.
Assessment
The course will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation, completion of assignments / projects and practical demonstrations in a simulated or workplace environment.

To complete this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in a total of 17 units. Ten of these units are core and there are 7 electives. The table below shows the content of our standard course, however other electives are available.

Work Placement
Students will attend the mandatory work placement after completing the face to face theory and simulated training.The placement will include both training and assessment.
Australian Nursing and Training Services (ANTS) arranges work placements for students.
All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an accredited residential care facility for either aged care, disability or home and community organisation to be deemed competent for this qualification.
Along with your police check you will also need to obtain HLTAID011 Provide first aid prior to commencing your placement. Studying this qualification, it is mandatory to obtain a working with children check.
Some facilities may also require you to provideImmunisation records/evidence, (Flu Vaccines are required in all Accredited Residential Care Facilities, if you are not vaccinated the facility may not accept you)
Uniform requirement
You will be required to provide your own uniform for work placement, please see the detailed description below.
- Navy or black pants – NO JEANS
- White short-sleeved collared shirt (Polo Shirt is fine)
- Flat, black, closed in non-slip shoes. NO CANVAS SHOES
- Tie your hair up, clean short nails, and limit your jewellery and makeup

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows a person to receive recognition and credit for the knowledge and skills they have, no matter how and where they were attained, including overseas. This can include skills from previous study, work experience and life experience.Credit Transfer
