There are no academic requirements or pre-requisites for this qualification, however, the student must:- Be at least 18 years old;
- Have a minimum Year 12 or equivalent
- Have a minimum IELTS overall score of 6.0 or equivalent;
- Have moderate level of computer literacy
- Successfully complete the pre-enrolment interview
Assessment
CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation, completion of assignments / projects and practical demonstrations in a simulated or workplace environment.Important Information

To complete this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in a total of 15 units. Nine of these units are core and there are 6 electives. The table below shows the content of our standard course, however other electives are available.CORE

Work Placement
Students will attend the mandatory work placement after completing the face to face theory and simulated training. The placement will include both training and assessment.
Australian Nursing and Training Services (ANTS) arranges work placements for students.
All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an accredited residential care facility for either aged care, disability or home and community organisation to be deemed competent for this qualification.
Along with your police check you will also need to obtain HLTAID011 Provide first aid prior to commencing your placement. If you choose the Disability or Home and Community specialisation you will also need to obtain a working with children check.
Some facilities may also require you to provide Immunisation records/evidence, (Flu Vaccines are required in all Accredited Residential Care Facilities, if you are not vaccinated the facility may not accept you)
Uniform requirement
You will be required to provide your own uniform for work placement, please see the detailed description below.
- Navy or black pants – NO JEANS
- White short-sleeved collared shirt (Polo Shirt is fine)
- Flat, black, closed in non-slip shoes. NO CANVAS SHOES
- Tie your hair up, clean short nails, and limit your jewellery and makeup

All our courses are employability orientated (it means you can get job at completion). Depend on which course your study, for instance if you study Diploma of Community Services you can work as “case manager’, probably social worker. Please check ANTS website under individual course and its career outcome tab/section.
After the completion of your course, you will be eligible for post study visa which will allow you live, study and work in Australia temporarily. For more information you can visit the “The Department of Home Affairs”.
Yes, you can study certificate III individual support (Ageing). The course will enable you to build basic knowledge and skills that you need to work in the Aged care industry.
